These releases were largely focused on maintenance and housekeeping.

The main work included security updates, a Drupal core update, credential rotation, and display and date bug fixes. A few improvements for editors also landed:

  • Simplifies formatting options for Power Sentence field on faculty profiles to prevent errant formatting
  • Easier chart editing
  • Event contact and department news lists that maintain themselves

New Features

Power Sentence: simpler formatting and built-in writing tips

The Power Sentence on faculty profiles is a short, high-visibility summary. These releases give it a dedicated, simplified text editor and point editors to guidance on writing power sentences.

  • What this means for editors:
    • When editing a Faculty profile, the Power Sentence field uses a pared-down editor with only bold and italics.
    • Other formatting pasted in, like links, headings, or styles from Word, is stripped when the profile is saved.
    • A link to “Tips for writing effective power sentences” on the Web Help Desk now appears with the field. It opens in a new tab when you click it.

Charts: reorder rows and columns

The charts tool was upgraded to a newer version.

  • What this means for editors:
    • When editing a chart’s data, you can now reorder rows and columns instead of re-entering data to change the order.

Event contacts: Academic Affairs added, and the list now updates itself

Academic Affairs can now be chosen as an event contact. The list of contacts and departments available on events used to be maintained by hand. It is now built automatically.

  • What this means for editors:
    • When editing an Event, the contact selector includes every published contact and academic department.
      • New event contacts now appear instantly without a deployment, though you still need a ticket request to add contacts.

Department news listings show older articles again

Department news views were hiding some older articles because of a topic setting conflict. That check has been removed.

  • What this means for editors:
    • Department and office news listings now include older articles that had dropped out. Review your department’s news page in case articles you thought were gone are visible again.

Minor updates & Bug Fixes

AreaWhat was fixed
Course start and end datesImported course dates could show one day early. Dates are now stored so they display on the correct day, and the help text on the course date fields was updated to match.
Event dates on group pagesEvent dates in group listings and teasers now display correctly and show only the start date.
Shorts ShowcaseBackground images on the Shorts Showcase component display correctly again.
Event listings and emailsEvent lists and event emails now use Work Sans, matching the email platform’s fonts.
Page headers (default, event, and article)Headers with long titles or a lot of text no longer get cut off on large screens. The header now grows to fit its content.
Text spacing in body contentSpacing between paragraphs in rich text now applies to the paragraphs themselves, not to elements nested inside them. Body copy should space more evenly.
Bold textRemoved a leftover style rule that could conflict with bold text. Bold now displays more consistently.
“Rich content” and Libsyn embed optionsThe preview thumbnails for these options in the component picker no longer show an outdated “New” label.
Power Sentence help textFixed a formatting error in the writing-tips link on the faculty edit form.
